Toledo, OH – For the past seven years, D’angelo Resto has consistently given back to his peers, by volunteering with Connecting Kids to Meals. Despite his age, the 12-year-old star-volunteer said seeing the need in his city caused him to want to get involved as early as five years old.
“I was around it [ the organization ] a lot. I like helping people in need so I wanted to volunteer,” he said.
The Resto-youth helps serve meals to children in the community.
The organization provides three hot meals a week and the rest are packed lunches. Meals are available to the community from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and children receive a weekend pack of meals on Friday.
“I like seeing a smile on people’s faces when I hand them a meal for their kids. I just want to help every kid that needs a meal to be served,” he said.
